Hey, everyone! Welcome to ASL Club!

I am the founder of this club, but of course I couldn't have done so without your help! It was because of your signatures at the end of the last school year that allowed us to have this club at Athens Drive High School. So I thank you.

Now, about me. I am hard-of-hearing and grew up in the hearing world. I have bilateral cochlear implants. I got my first cochlear implant at the age of three and a half and recieved my second one at the age of ten. I consider myself hard-of-hearing because I grew up in the hearing world. Through intensive hours of speech therapy, I learned to speak. I did not learn ASL until my junior year in high school (I am a senior now) and I am still learning! I wish to study Communication Science and Disorders in undergraduate school and then earn my doctorate in Audiology in grad school.

I have a little sister, named Sophie, and I have a dog, named Ginger.

Fun Facts: I can solve the Rubik's Cube in less than a minute (my record is 45 seconds) and my favorite food is pizza.

I am hard-of-hearing. I got interested into A.S.L when I was in 6th grade so I was like 12 or 13 I think? I never met my friend who cant hear or speak and I been learning ASL for a month then tried to flow with it. It's pretty hard to learn but if you work hard and try your best, it will be easy. I want people to know how deaf culture works and talk with people who are hard-of-hearing or deaf. Last time when I tried to talk with hearing person (I know how to speak with my family), Oooh..it was so difficult to understand..I have to use my self-advocacy skills to be successful!

Hello, everyone! Here's a story about me: I grew up in deaf the community and ASL is my first language. I recieved my cochlear implant at age four. I've been through intensive hours of speech therapy to learn to speak. I often confuse the two languages since both of these languages are my primary language. (So if I suddenly start speaking in nonsense to you..... Well oops, sorry about that. Just let me know about that, m'okay?). I recently started Athens Drive High School and I am senior (GO CLASS OF 2016!!) Just to let you know, I want YOU to have fun!
